KiCad is a versatile EDA software package that caters to various electronic design needs. With Kicad, you no longer have to create schematics and printed circuit boards by hand. This is a project manager that allows you to work with the following apps at the same time: Eeschema, Pcbnew, Cvpcb, and Gerbview.
Eeschema is a complete schematic editor; Pcbnew is a printed circuit board editor capable of displaying the designs in 3D; Cvpcb is a tool capable of associating the components of a schematic to the corresponding modules on the printed circuit; and, finally, Gerbview is a Gerber file viewer.
In addition, with Kicad, you can create simple or hierarchical diagrams and check the results using an Electrical Rules Check (ERC) tool. This program does not have an installer. To run it, open the winexe folder and double-click on Kicad’s .exe file.
